I.  Book 13

    A.  Phaeacians Bring Odysseus to Ithaca

        1.  He Sleeps.

        2.  Angry reaction of Poseidon.

            a.  Ship turned to stone.

            b.  Threat to bury their city under a mountain.

    B.  Athena appears.

        1.  His lie.

        2.  Yes, it is Ithaca.

        3.  Go to Eumaeus, the swineherd.

            a.  Don't reveal identity.

        4.  They hide the treasure given by the Phaeacians in a cave.

II.  Book 14

    A.  Eumaeus Receives Odysseus Kindly.

        1.  He believes that Odysseus is dead.

            a.  He is suspicious of the stranger.

        2.  Odysseus tells him that he has seen Odysseus and he will surely return.

            a.  He says he is a Cretan.  "All Cretans are liars."

III.  Book 15

    A.  Athena Gets Telemachus

        1.  Leaves Sparta.

            a.  Theoclymenos joins him.

        2.  Avoids Nestor.

        3.  Lands near hut of Eumaeus avoiding the ambush of the suitors.

IV.  Book 16

    A.  Scene in the Hut of Eumaeus

        1.  Telemachus sends Eumaeus to the palace.

            a.  Tell Penelope he has returned.

        2.  Odysseus transformed into his own shape.

            a.  Reveals himself to his son.

        3.  He will go as a beggar to the palace.

            a.  Plans to kill the suitors.

            b.  The catalog of the suitors.

    B.  Suitors Return from their Failed Ambush

V.  Book 17

    A.  Odysseus Goes to the Palace

        1.  He meets Melanthios, the goatherd.

            a.  Worst of the slaves.

        2.  Relationship between masters in the Odysseus vs. the Iliad.

            a.  Slaves hardly exist in the Iliad.

            b.  Good slaves and bad slaves.

        3.  Odysseus arrives.

            a.  Mocked by the Suitors.

            b.  Antinoos throws a stool at him.

        2.  Penelope wants to ask about Odysseus.

            a.  He says he will see her later.

VI.  Book 18

    A.  Fight with Irus

        1.  Odysseus almost kills him.

    B.  Warning to Antinoos

        1.  Not heeded although he is the best of the suitors.

    C.  Penelope appears

        1.  Made more beautiful.

    D.  Odysseus and the Evil Maids
